Refund Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2026

Plain-English summary: if you buy any plan and change your mind within 14 days, email me and you get all your money back. No forms, no reasons required, no hard feelings.

The 14-day guarantee

Every purchase on Learn Chinese with Lan — monthly, annual, or lifetime — comes with a 14-day, no-questions-asked, full refund. The 14 days count from the date of your payment. This applies to first purchases and to renewal payments alike: if a renewal goes through and you didn't want it, the same 14-day window applies.

You don't need to give a reason. "It's not for me" is enough. The free tier exists so you can try before buying, but if you buy and it still isn't right, you shouldn't be stuck paying for it.

How to request a refund

Email contact@learnchinesewithlan.com from the email address you used at checkout, with the subject "Refund". Including your Paddle receipt number speeds things up, but it isn't required — your email address is usually enough to find the order.

I aim to confirm refund requests within 2 business days. There is no phone call, no "are you sure?" flow, and no partial-refund haggling.

How the refund is processed

Payments on this site are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record — Paddle is the company named on your receipt and card statement. When your refund is approved, Paddle returns the full amount to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, the money typically appears within 5–10 business days. You can also contact Paddle directly through the link in your receipt email; refunds requested that way are honored under this same policy.

When a refund is issued, access to the paid course content ends. Everything in the free tier — the Word Tree and the free lessons — stays available to you, always.

After 14 days

Outside the 14-day window, payments are generally not refundable, but you can cancel anytime so you're never charged again, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. If something exceptional happened — a duplicate charge, a billing error, a serious technical problem that kept you from using the course — email me and we'll sort it out fairly.

Fair-use exception

This policy is built on trust, and I intend to keep it that way. The one exception: abuse of the guarantee — for example, repeatedly purchasing and refunding to get ongoing paid access for free, or refunding after bulk-downloading course content. In clear cases of abuse, I reserve the right to decline a refund or refuse future purchases. This exception is for patterns of exploitation, not for ordinary customers changing their minds.
