Learn Chinese with Lan (learnchinesewithlan.com) is operated by Lan, an individual educator based in Mongolia. For anything in this policy, contact contact@learnchinesewithlan.com.
Email address — when you create an account or subscribe. It identifies your account and is where receipts and important service emails go.
Email subscription — If you subscribe by email we store your address and the page you subscribed from, nothing else; unsubscribe by replying.
Learning progress — which lessons you've completed, quiz results, review schedules, and similar study data. This is what makes the course remember where you are.
Payment data — handled by Paddle, not by us. Purchases are processed by Paddle as merchant of record. Your card number, billing address, and payment details go directly to Paddle and never touch our servers. I only receive confirmation that a subscription is active, the plan type, and the email attached to the order. Paddle's handling of your data is described in Paddle's privacy policy.
Basic technical logs — like most websites, the server records standard request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and debugging. These are routine and short-lived.
That's the full list. There are no advertising trackers, no social-media pixels, and no analytics that follow you across the web.
We count visits ourselves, on our own server — no Google Analytics, no third party, no cookies. Each event records: which page, where you came from (the referring site), rough device type, browser language, time zone, how far you scrolled, how long you stayed, and which lesson steps you answered. We do not store your IP address, and we never record anything you type.
If your browser sends Do Not Track, we record nothing at all.
Logs are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
This site sets no cookies at all — not for sign-in, not for analytics, not for advertising. Everything is kept in your own browser's localStorage, on your device.

la_tok — your sign-in token, only if you asked us to save your progressla_aid — a random id used to tell one visit from another in our own visit counts. If you signed in, the ☁ panel also has Delete my account and all data, which removes the server copy too.
Only to run the Service: signing you in, saving and syncing your progress, providing the lessons you paid for, sending service emails (receipts, renewal notices, replies to your questions), and fixing problems. If an email newsletter with learning content exists, it is opt-in and every issue has an unsubscribe link.
Your data is never sold and never rented, traded, or shared with advertisers. It is shared only with the small set of providers needed to run the Service — Paddle for payments and the hosting provider that serves the website — each of which processes it only for that purpose.
Wherever you live, and in line with GDPR principles, you can:
• Access — ask for a copy of the data held about you.
• Correct — fix anything that's wrong (e.g., change your email).
• Delete — have your account and learning data erased.
To use any of these, email contact@learnchinesewithlan.com from your account email. Requests are answered within 30 days, usually much faster. Records that must be kept for legal or tax reasons (e.g., Paddle's transaction records) are the one exception to deletion. If your account is inactive and you've requested deletion, it's gone — there is no "soft delete" limbo.
The Service is intended for learners aged 13 and older. Accounts are not knowingly created for children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email me and the account and its data will be deleted.
If this policy changes in a way that matters — new data collected, new ways of using it — the "last updated" date will change and account holders will be notified by email. Silent expansions of data collection will not happen.
